Hey there,
Your dad's old Acer TravelMate 8472 had some issues with the domain policy, making it hard to create a new account. After trying Computer Management, the user couldn't appear on the login screen once created. When you restarted the system, the original account vanished, leaving only "Administrator" and "acer" visible. The acer account didn’t have a password, which was a relief. Files were still there on the desktop, but the cmd command couldn’t activate it because it reported the account as non-existent.

Now you’re stuck with the acer account—how can you make it active again? Thanks for sharing the details!

On the login screen, type "computername" followed by the created user account name, then enter your chosen password. To restore your previous domain account, rejoin the domain. Otherwise, you can only transfer information to the new account.

You should type it in the designated input field. If you're using a different system, let me know so I can guide you further.
