You purchased a pre-built PC equipped with a 120GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. You planned to move your folders (documents, videos, photos) to the HDD to free up space on the SSD. However, when you mistakenly set your 'Desktop' location to the HDD, it was renamed to "F:" (the name of your HDD). Now the Desktop can't be reset to its original setting. Since you don’t want all your downloads visible on the HDD, I’d really appreciate some guidance.

I faced a comparable problem recently and couldn't find a fix, as my HDD failed and the system folder disappeared. Could you tell me if you can't modify the folder's location in the "Location" section?

I can't modify the location settings. Moving it to an SSD triggers the error: "Failed to build the list of regular subdirectories under 'F:System Volume Information'. Access Denied." Despite granting full admin privileges, the issue persists.

Consider using this BAT script as an administrator on Windows Ten Forums. It checks for a missing Desktop user folder, recreates it, and updates the registry accordingly. Restart your system afterward to apply changes. This process will remove the old folder and all its contents.

I managed to restore the file position. To be truthful, I’m uncertain about the steps I took. I revisited location > reset location, and it simply allowed me to place it back on the SSD. I don’t know what occurred since I didn’t make any changes. Appreciate your assistance!

Great news about fixing the problem! Just remember that the folder behaves like a regular Desktop but shows an incorrect name. It won’t move all your data to your desktop.
