Hello everyone, I reached the global elite tier sometime in October 2015 after about 500 hours of playtime. After that milestone, I became bored with the game and stopped playing. Since then, the rankings have shifted, making it tougher to climb. (That was a positive change) Over the past few months, I've played a few times—maybe around 10 hours total. My most recent achievement was a Gold Nova 3 rank, which wasn’t great even though I did well. Now I’m unranked again, so I’m unsure where I stand right now. I’m guessing my Nova rank is low. How challenging is it to climb the ranks these days? Can someone who started from a lower Nova level actually reach the global elite again? Or does it really take a lot of time and effort? Thanks!
It's true that during my time in the global scene, many believed it was unattainable without a 5-man pre-made setup. Despite this, I still managed to climb that level by playing mostly on my own.
I've spent 500 hours and I'm still getting used to a lot of trolling.
Because you need to be among the top 3% of players, it's definitely tougher now. The system won’t let you climb after a 20-game win streak if you’re the only one on your team each time. Even pre-made accounts will have to work hard to stand out. Be ready for cheaters—even the best matchmaking can’t stop them.
It's quite challenging considering the site (https://csgosquad.com/ranks) which monitors just over 2 million players, with roughly 0.5% being GMs. That's significantly fewer than before.
