The setup sounds possible with Samsung Dex. You can connect your S23+ using a monitor, wireless mouse and keyboard, and remote desktop software. The main consideration is ensuring the remote app supports Dex-compatible web interfaces. This way, you avoid buying a new laptop and reduce e-waste.

Dex seems like a very specific scenario with limited performance data. Can you verify if there are any tests available before you go? For remote desktop options, Chrome Remote works reasonably well. If your work machine has an Nvidia chip and you can set up port forwarding or a VPN, Moonlight As might be an option. You could also consider buying a mid-range device on eBay for around $300 and use it temporarily.

I'm already stuck, not planning to get stuck. I didn't have time to prepare or ask my boss for a spare laptop. I'm either buy an HDMI dongle to test the Dex or spend around 300 euros on a laptop that I can use for a month at most.

Any RDP client should function, it generally displays the tablet interface... Usability is quite poor from what I see, though perhaps not as bad as a cheap laptop.

It's not right, but many laptop stores let you return items within 30 days. You could purchase, use, and then send it back for a refund. Likely under $100, you'd get a newer model. Checking Dell confirmed a full refund on shipping. Just mention it doesn't meet your needs and no questions required
