TL;DR - Access BIOS works, but no booting. Some parts are missing. My BIOS doesn’t show any bootable drives by default. Enabling CSM makes everything appear. When I try to boot, the machine freezes with a white dash in the top-left corner after showing the motherboard logo briefly. Without CSM it jumps straight to BIOS without attempting anything. I’ve tested two GPUs, used one stick of RAM in the recommended slot, and unplugged all drives except the USB I’m trying. Unclear what’s wrong—motherboard, CPU, or something else? Parts listed at the end: AsRock B650M-HDV/M.2 AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB DDR5. More info: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3TCkXR

I'll begin with simple questions. These might seem basic but it's important not to ignore the fundamentals while troubleshooting. Was this device ever used before or is it brand new? Did you create your USB Windows installer using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool or a third-party application such as Rufus? How did you update the BIOS? Likely not via Windows, but through the BIOS settings or the BIOS flashback feature (as AsRock refers to it). This could be a possibility, though it's hard to confirm. The typical approach is to check all other parts until only the motherboard remains. Regarding the CPU, I believe it should be fine since a functional CPU is necessary for accessing the BIOS interface. Memory appears to be in good condition. A few points come to mind: CSM shouldn't be needed to boot unless your boot drive lacks an UEFI partition. Most modern USB installers come with a UEFI boot partition included. You don't need a dedicated GPU to start up this machine—its 7600X has an integrated one. Simply connect your monitor to the motherboard's video output. Once the OS is installed, you can connect your GPU. I'm not familiar with AsRock boards, but it's possible you might need to install additional drivers for proper drive access. Refer to the motherboard manual for specifics. If you encounter strange problems, try using a different power supply just to verify. Reach out to AsRock support—they may have insight and can process an RMA if needed. Good luck!

It's a fresh installation. I'm using the Arch Linux ISO, which I verified works on my laptop. I followed the instructions with `dd` to install it correctly. I updated the BIOS using the Flashback option. During troubleshooting, I removed everything from the case and found only the motherboard, RAM DIMM, CPU, and power connectors. The issue continues (still reaching BIOS). I tried resetting CMOS for 4 minutes, but it didn't help. I also removed the jumper before reinserting the battery, yet the problem remains. I plan to reach out to ASRock, try a different PSU, and re-seat the CPU.
