Hello everyone, I own a Ryzen 5 3600, an RTX 2070, 16GB RAM at 3000MHz, and the game is installed on an NVMe SSD. My issue is that when entering cities or viewing them from afar, I experience significant stuttering, with FPS dropping sharply (which is normal) but a lot of stuttering occurs. Normally I have around 90-105 FPS when not in cities (custom settings, volumetric clouds off), whereas in cities it drops to about 80. I’ve tried disabling fullscreen optimization, turning off fast startup, and setting high priority in Task Manager—nothing helped. Also, my temperatures are at CPU max (65%) and GPU max (73%) on Ventus.

I recently updated the GPU drivers. This problem doesn’t occur with other games; even in Origins it was smooth, but there was lag when entering cities. In Odyssey, stuttering happens whenever I move the mouse to larger areas.

Thanks for any assistance.

Simply inspect the control panel of the GPU and locate the auto-update feature to turn it off. This ensures uninterrupted gameplay, which is essential for a smooth experience throughout the long session. With AMD, I’m unsure if NVDIA can disable this, but it should be feasible to maintain stability during an entire AC Odyssey run.

Don't stress about it, continue playing and reach the next goal (some islands are less smooth than others)

I'm actually starting from Megharis, which is also known by its local name, and in the capital city I experienced a lot of stuttering, I can't wait for Athens.

There one island that really sucks but you wont be there for long its skyros or something, don't worry if you get bad fps there, its just the way the game is, but you might want to investigate further if you get stuttering in more place than are know to cause that.
I wouldn't keep poking at the setting, find something that is smooth in most places and stick with it.

I don't know, I've had stutters in Kefalonia, but now on Megaris I don't believe it at all. The game seems just poorly optimized. I remember when I cracked the game a long time ago just to try it, and that time I fixed it by disabling fullscreen optimizations, which isn't working now. Thanks for your time.

I also made sure only AC Odyssey was installed, turned off auto gpu driver updates during the game so nothing changed on my PC setup, and it helped me focus on the experience. Back then, when I first played it, it took me three months to finish, and my PC stayed stable all the time. That stability meant I didn’t worry about slow performance in some areas.

To turn off automatic GPU driver updates, follow the instructions on the NVIDIA website for manual driver installation.
