I’ve tested various drivers, adjusted voltage and frequency settings for my 7870, and changed graphics options one by one. Now the problem is clear: when playing Assassin’s Creed 4, certain areas of the map freeze the video. On ships I can pause briefly before impact; on foot I get a flashing gray/red signal when damaged. This was previously manageable until I’m chasing a ship for medicine. Near forts it mostly happens. It’s really frustrating to play missions with just a minimap and no clear visuals. I’m at a point where crocs try to ambush me while tailing them, plus the confusing environment makes it even harder. Any suggestions?

Are you running your GPU at an increased speed? If yes, revert it to the original factory configuration and adjust your game settings with AMD Gaming Evolved suggestions for your system. Avoid overclocking, as it might cause overheating or damage to your GPU.

No, nothing in my rig is overclocked. I tried Gaming Evolved but it didn’t work. I removed it. The graphics card only increases by about a degree Celsius above 60. The game would crash for a while until I reset the AMD settings.
