Absurd problems lurking close to causing a brain bleed
I don’t understand why this occurred, but today my computer suddenly stopped using half of its RAM. I’ve checked every single stick in each slot individually, and each one works fine on its own. It seems this only started happening today, unlike before when all four were functioning properly. I know every stick appears in UEFI and CPU-Z, but for some reason half aren’t being utilized, and I have no idea which two are active. I tried re-seating the CPU without success. May the gods protect me.
MemTest86 analyzes the system's memory for errors and inconsistencies.
I'm having trouble getting memtest to start from the USB drive, and I don't have another one available. However, I'm going to experiment with adjusting the RAM settings in the UEFI.
Check the manufacturer's guidelines; if the stick is compatible with 1.2V, stick with it unless you're unsure.
The ram appears to be operating around 2133 (about 1.2v), while the modules are rated for 3200C16 (around 1.35v). XMP is not enabled in the current screenshot. Would you like me to enable it? If not, we can try loading defaults in BIOS and re-enabling XMP. Other custom settings will also need adjustment.
Did it function with XMP before? This might be a hint. Would you like me to test two pairs using XMP?
It hasn't functioned with XMP for a while now, and I didn't give it much thought. Maybe some part of my system disliked it, causing it to stop working. It seems to have been active before, especially with the RAM I had earlier. I tried using just two sticks, but the issue remains unchanged—UEFI loads correctly, but Windows won't boot.
