Hello everyone,
I recently switched from the blue team to 1600x on the AB350-Gaming 3. I was aiming for a stable 4ghz, just like others have achieved.
I’m using the Coolermaster 212 evo cooler (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/3776...lsrc=aw.ds), which I’ve seen on YouTube being overclocked to 4.1. I’ve also noticed the stock cooler handling 4ghz well.
I considered getting a 240mm AIO cooler, but it wasn’t in stock when I bought it.
I’ve experimented with voltages up to 1.4V and 1.1 SoC, but crashes still occur during stress tests (aida64/prime95/Cinebench, etc.) after about 5-10 minutes.
At first, I thought the temperature might be the issue, but according to Gigabyte SIS it was around 50°C, similar to the motherboard and monitor. I looked up Ryzen Master readings and thought they might be more accurate. Still, I can’t match those temps.
Originally, the system ran hotter to about 72°C before crashing in Ryzen Master. I changed fan profiles because they didn’t exceed 60% due to the motherboard’s reading, then reapplied thermal paste. I used two 1400mm Corsair fans—one front and one rear—to ensure good airflow.
With the new cooling setup, I haven’t reached 75°C, but I see black screens around 70°C. Maybe my chip isn’t powerful enough?
I’ve also tried a 3.9 @ 1.375, which passed all tests with stable temps but still crashes at around 70°C. I think it could be pushed higher if needed, though I really wanted 4ghz.
Perhaps the issue is with the CPU heatsink blocking airflow to the RAM? I’ve reset it a few times and checked for full contact. The stock temperatures were about 48°C during stress tests, but the images look exaggerated; now they’re barely touching. I also tried using just two RAM sticks, but that didn’t make much difference.
Anyway, I’ll share some photos of my build and sorry for the poor quality of the live stream.
Thanks!

Not every Ryzen processor is the same, you just gotta get lucky if you want one that overclocks well. You might have just been one of the unlucky ones :/
Try it at 1.45, and if it doesn't ever go past 4GHz, then you'll just have to settle with 3.9 GHz.
Mind the temps tho, Ryzen does give good temps but you could fry your chip nonetheless.
