It's mainly due to the constant high CUDA core usage while folding on the 4090. The volume fluctuates depending on the work unit, and you might notice a pattern—likely from various calculations happening at once. The device noises when idle, which I think is a bigger issue because it means the room will be quiet. It would be nice if someone explored how the PSU switching frequency relates to the GPU's whiney switching frequency.
