I'm evaluating the options for an AM5 upgrade in 2024, focusing on boards like the B650E and X670E. The situation is quite complex with many changes and unclear details. AMD introduced various naming conventions and layout differences, making comparisons tricky. Some boards feature multiple M2 chips but only a single PCIe slot, while others have different Gen5 and Gen4 configurations. Bandwidth sharing between components adds another layer of confusion. The price range varies significantly, with the X670E Aorus Master being notably more expensive than expected. I'm leaning toward the B650E for now, as it seems to offer better value compared to alternatives like the ASUS Strix E-E and Aorus Master. For a comprehensive overview, resources such as the HUB AMD B650 Roundup and Buildzoid are helpful but don't always simplify the bandwidth and configuration nuances. It's challenging to find a complete summary without reviewing every board's specifications manually.
Haha another tree in the jungle! I don’t really care about the Gen5 GPU, but B650 boards usually miss features like a proper postcode and have fewer lanes, which means less PCie and more shared bandwidth. I’m leaning toward Buildzoid on this—more PCie is better than M2, and more than two M2s don’t add much value. You can use a PCie slot for anything, and in France the price isn’t significantly better for B650 than B650E... But if you find a good one, I appreciate it!
I really enjoy my B650 AORUS Pro AX (the Elite AX is quite similar). I utilize all three M.2 ports, appreciate the strong power delivery it offers for upcoming high-performance CPUs, and it feels very durable. There are plenty of USB ports available. For me, I only need one PCIe slot, though I’m unsure about the ideal number. My reasoning comes from what works best for the user. For me, the B650 was sufficient now or in the near future, and I’m comfortable upgrading later if needed—since I can repurpose the CPU/mobo in various ways down the line.
Had a look at this one, it's ok, but again price here makes no sense it's 335EUR to 365 for a Strix B650E-E that is better in all aspects Then there's the B650 Elite with a more sensible 250EUR price, it's ok for the V1 that has a Gen4 x4 slot, then they made a weird v2 with 2 slots Gen3 x1 wtf ?? And vendors don't even specify which version they sell... So I'd stay clear of this even more confusing lineup
It's the B650e Taichi Lite, a high-end board packed with extra perks beyond typical user needs. Features like ECLK for X3D overclocking make it great for enthusiasts who want to experiment. Definitely a powerful choice if you're after top-tier performance and customization options.
Thanks! Seems like a Buildzoid release you were hoping for. I wasn’t familiar with the B650E Taichi—only saw the X670E and didn’t see Asrock much in Europe. It looks cool, priced at 400EUR, which is 35 more than the Strix. Guess it’ll be worth checking out!
