I deeply enjoy RPGs, playing a wide range from Diablo to Dragon Age to Witcher for hours on end. I have a concept in mind, but I’m unsure how to execute it effectively. While I support systems that evolve naturally and are shaped by player interaction, most of them lose their essence. They often reduce to a small team of players using just a mouse and keyboard, with limited communication. My vision is to restore that experience—bringing people back together. - Implementing a turn-based system (essential) and it’s always been present... - Having a GM to guide the flow and enforce consequences - Each character controlled by a unique player, not an AI - Turn-based becomes crucial here... allowing the game to unfold in real time (like a traditional D&D session) or, alternatively, switching back and forth between modes as needed.
Skype might function... and the turn-based approach seems suitable. I considered adapting concepts from games like Civilization, though that feels less engaging. For the GM perspective, setting up some fundamental rules would help avoid constant yes/no answers from players. For instance, a player could ask, "Can I investigate...X?" and the GM could provide a pre-set response so the player can simply proceed and roll the dice.
