I observed in the video that he appears to be stuck due to an endless loading issue (assuming that's what I saw). The game freezes into a loading screen without progressing further. This is linked to a compatibility problem between CryEngine and Windows networking, originating from Crysis 2. I investigated and developed a solution during my time playing Crysis 2, and it still functions properly now. There exists a service on Windows 7 that manages port activity (even without the firewall enabled). It occasionally malfunctions (cause unknown) and prevents certain apps from connecting to specific ports (like in my case with Crysis 2/Star Citizen). Simply restarting this service resolves the issue. Open Task Manager, navigate to 'Services', click 'Services...' (or search for Services in the start menu). Ensure you're viewing the 'Extended view'. Locate the service named 'Base Filtering Engine'. Click 'Restart' if prompted. You may receive a warning about needing to restart other services; confirm by selecting 'yes'. If you encounter an error stating it couldn't restart due to being in use, repeat the restart. After this, launch AC again.

Notes: Restarting might require disabling MSE, Windows Defender, or the firewall if they're active. Reports suggest this fix works on Windows 8. This solution is intended for users stuck on loading screens and won't help with connection errors or crashes. I also have a discussion about it on the SC forums: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.co...nt/2710761

2016 EDIT: Updated title for easier searching.

The problem has been resolved in the most recent update a few days back, but some users are still experiencing issues.

There are numerous problems related to loading, crashes, connection failures, installation issues, and the game not starting.

Interesting – I didn’t face the infinite load problem, but it’s really impressive! Thanks!

Created an account merely to confirm it functioned. I've struggled to play recently but discovered a solution. Thanks!
