A sensible step up from the 6600k
I've been using an i5-6600k for more than five years now, and it's beginning to show signs of wear. Are there any other processors that people suggest would fit the same motherboard? I'm thinking about switching to Ryzen, but I figured I'd save that option until I completely rebuild the system. It's mainly been for gaming, and it's performing close to 100% on less demanding titles like Apex Legends.
Only these chips work—they match today’s i3 performance. I’d just upgrade to a newer CPU and motherboard, leaving the old behind.
fwiw I have a 7700k, my r5 3600 has better per core performance, and of course more cores. So unless you're planning to wait for ddr5 I think getting a 5600x might just be a better plan
I aimed for exactly what you needed when I reassembled everything. It was just a short-term fix while supply and prices normalize.
