I was considering upgrading my router to fix wireless issues with PCVR and Oculus Quest. I asked for advice and some suggestions came up, including a specific model. I’m curious if switching to a new router would improve latency and speeds for VR play. I’m looking for something affordable and wanted a recommendation.
I don’t rely on the ISP’s router or modem they supply. It’s crazy how much they charge for monthly rent, and the devices usually aren’t very reliable. This is essentially my experience with Comcast... I’d buy a separate cable modem at Best Buy, install a solid router, and connect everything directly. That way I get consistent performance from high-end networking gear. Still, I’m stuck with DSL at my new place, limited to 8Mbps down and 1Mbps up through the switch center. My connection remains painfully slow, no matter what I do. I’ve disabled the router features on my Ziply modem and used my own hardware instead.
Which ISP do you use? I can get a premium router that matches those speeds.
