So I come from a Mac and Time Machine was amazing. I'm looking for something like that for Windows now. I have a 4TB WD drive I'd like to designate as a back-up drive but don't know where to start.

The native Windows backup function operates smoothly. I typically rely on Genie Timeline for all my devices. It stores backups on a network server. You can find more info at http://www.genie9.com/free_products/free_timeline.aspx
