It’s probably the RAM issue, and those Ryzen tests don’t help much. The symptoms match what you’d expect with bad drivers. Your friend’s using an AMD Coolaid, which is unreliable. The PSU seems terrible—replace it if possible. Good options are RMX, RMi, or Leadex III. Fixing one of these should work almost certain. Need the exact model number?

I suspect another component might be the issue—possibly the cablemod cables. Their connectors look brand new, making solid contact, but problems reappear once I reassemble the case. Stress testing with the original PSU cables shows no issues at all. The PSU itself tested flawlessly with both 5950X and 3090Ti boards. I'm currently attempting to run multiple units together using FurMak on the same system, including the 7900XT and 6900XT. For memory, the model you shared is from GSKILL, but I’m not familiar with it. Over the past three years I’ve built more than 100 Ryzen systems; aside from early DDR5 kits and boards with outdated BIOS, none have encountered problems. This is the first time something has caused issues across my setups. GPU-related problems mostly involve Nvidia, with most cases tied to Asus GPUs. Updating now: the PSU works perfectly with both 7900XT and 6900XT in FurMark, so it’s unlikely the PSU is the culprit. I plan to build the system without the cablemod cables and compare performance.

It turns out the problem was due to the cablemod cables themselves. Honestly, I felt a bit awkward learning how long it took to test one of the core parts. I pulled those cables from his setup—because I had arranged them for appearance, which meant removing and taking apart half the case—and tried them on my own. The issues appeared right away. I think next time you encounter something similar, remember this. It’ll be fun to check how they handle their return process.
