I'm facing a problem with my new computer near the RMA deadline. I have a z790 pro rs wifi board. My router has a 5gb port connected to the 2.5gb slot on the motherboard, but it's not working properly. I recall it functioning before. I've tested using the 5gb port on a laptop, which received a signal. I also tried another cable from the desktop to it—it behaves oddly. When using the 5gb port, it connects for about 18 seconds before failing and restarting the timer. It shows Ethernet Not Connected even though it's a full 1000/1000 connection. Switching to a 1gb port works, but I can't identify the network and it claims no internet. I also can't access web pages without Wi-Fi. I've tried getting insurance through All-State, but I'm hoping for a direct replacement from ASRock if needed. The CPU is mounted with a thermal right contact frame, and I'm wondering if it just needs to be repositioned.
Your connection on the back of the board isn't linked directly to the CPU, which means a new frame won't fix it. Does your desktop Ethernet function with another port?
Reinsert it into the 1GB port and run some diagnostics there. It seems like a fixable issue.
