Theoretically it should function, but upgrading to a 10-bit version works best. Enable it, then download the 64-bit edition. Installing fresh should resolve any issues I've encountered before. Windows doesn't appear to treat 32-bit and 64-bit activations differently.

Just to clarify, you simplified everything quite a bit. All you really had to do was set up Windows 7 with SP1 and activate it. Then use the Windows 10 upgrade tool—no need for Windows Update. Regarding Windows 10, you just told them your motherboard failed and they replaced it, which also required a new key. I’ve done this several times already.

I invested a lot of time talking to three different MS representatives, who all said there wasn’t anything they could help with.

Get the required Windows ISO from the provided link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/home. Downloading Windows 7 ensures it contains SP1 and is likely up-to-date.

All set alright! I think I went a bit slow, but here we go. Just wrapped up setting up Windows 10 home 64-bit and applying the latest updates. Now it’s time to get all my apps running smoothly again.
