I owned a Samsung 300e equipped with a dual-core Pentium and on-board graphics from 2012. My new laptop is a Dell Latitude D6410 featuring an i5 520M at 2.4GHz with on-board graphics from 2010. I think the performance would be similar or slightly better than my previous machine... Yet it struggles with games, performing worse than my old one. I've reinstalled everything and updated all drivers. Both devices have 8GB of RAM. What help do I need?

It might not perform well due to the Intel integrated graphics. Also, it's running on a first-generation i5 processor.

If the Pentium is Ivy Bridge, it will offer better single-threaded speed and improved integrated graphics. Even with a Sandy Bridge processor, performance could still be higher due to the significant differences between Nehalem and Sandy Bridge.

It’s clear, your issue is with the laptop. Desktops are usually superior, though I understand not everyone has the budget or preference for one. If you aim to enjoy games on a solid machine, definitely opt for a desktop.
