Considering your RX 6800XT project, you're looking for a CPU that supports air cooling and avoids overheating. The 7700X is a solid choice if you prioritize reliability and airflow, while the 7700 series offers better thermal performance compared to the 6800XT.

The 7000 series from AMD is built to run hot intentionally and is made for that purpose. You can't just compare it to any other CPU—AMD has definitely changed things up on this one. I manage to keep my 7700x running smoothly with my NH-D15 at a steady fan speed, around 25%, which helps avoid noise. It stays between 60-80°C during intense gaming sessions. Plus, I really love my 7700x—it's a powerful machine. If you're curious, here are two videos that break down how and why.

7700x is a solid option with no heat concerns during testing. Check out the review and page 8 for more details.

I believe a resolution would appeal to OP more.

I can confirm that a PBO -30 on the 7700x not only reduces heat output but also boosts performance. If you're looking for a forum supporter of this, I'm very pleased with it. It works excellently against the 7800x3d especially after applying the undervolt/curve optimizer.
