A detailed conversation about Sony's strong support for PC gamers featuring Spider-Man.
Sony has no option. Microsoft controls 70% of the major game developers now. It will only be a matter of time before Sony shifts focus from hardware to software to sustain that part of the industry. I'm not a Microsoft Xbox enthusiast or a console gamer, but it's clear what's ahead.
Absolutely, creating it solely for VR isn't achieving the right result.
🙄
Why do some individuals insist on the idea that Sony will soon shift focus from hardware to software to maintain business continuity? Why would they make such a joke?
The main point is that the PS5 hasn't sold 50 million units yet due to supply issues and the pandemic. When it was released, around 8 million copies were available, selling faster than the initial 8 million PS4 units. Every shipment that reaches the market sells quickly.
Sony's top first-party studios consistently achieve strong sales with their games. Even if some studios faced criticism on platforms like Metacritic, they still maintain over 47 million active subscriptions, possibly more.
What could be the motivation behind trying to preserve a major division?
Sony will never turn into a software company. They focus solely on hardware, and it seems they struggle with software development. That idea is completely wrong. If Sony shifted entirely to software, they would likely fail because they can’t create the necessary programs to save their business. Just check out the confusing PlayStation interface.
Captain Disco takes it to the very limit, while you opt for something else 🤣
I’m wondering how far I’ll go. They’re a hardware company, straightforward. They should move their software to someone capable of handling it properly. Hardware is their specialty. The PlayStation five would be even better with a user-friendly operating system that doesn’t require users to search everywhere for settings.
Having both systems lets me compare ease of use and navigation. The way the PlayStation five powers down and leave the controller on is completely frustrating—you can’t simply shut it off like you can with the Xbox, which needs a specific setting. This is unacceptable in today’s world. As I mentioned earlier, Sony software interfaces are terrible.
