9th Gen Intel processors and Maximus VIII Extreme are advanced chip designs for modern computing needs.
Recently I've been considering getting the latest 9th generation CPU from Intel, especially the I9-9900K. However, something concerns me. My motherboard is the Asus Maximus Viii Extreme edition, and I'm unsure if it will support this processor. Although they share the same socket, I worry it might not work unless ASUS updates the board for it. Alternatively, I could end up needing a completely new motherboard since my current one (Z170) is pretty much outdated. This has been a bit of a worry for me, so I'm looking for advice or insights from others on this matter.
Using a Z170 board won't work with Coffee-Lake chips because the connections differ from Z370 and Z390 LGA 1151 models. Even a BIOS update won't make it compatible with Intel's 9th generation processors; you'll need a Z370 with an updated BIOS or a Z390 board.
