I'm organizing my thoughts on your PC build plan. You're aiming for a high-performance work or gaming rig with an AMD 9950X3D and Asus ProArt X870E. You're targeting 96 GB of RAM and are considering a 2x48 kit, but the QVL doesn't have any matching sticks. You found a few alternatives, like F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5RK and F5-6400J3239F48GX2-TZ5RK, which seem to fit better. You're curious about the differences in the last letters and whether they relate to RGB options. The G.Skill QVL only lists 5200-5600 sticks, which is unusual for such a fast memory. You're wondering if this is typical for 96 GB and whether stability should be prioritized over minor performance drops. You're also considering skipping XMP/EXPO for better reliability, and you want to know if using the 5600 kit is safe.

Instability might occur at high velocities, but upgrading to a higher-speed kit shouldn't cause major stability problems if you adjust the settings manually. QVL lists are usually limited, meaning many memory kits outside them likely weren't tested and won't show up. Switching to a 5600 kit won't significantly impact performance.

XMP/EXPO is a method for boosting performance, but for the most stable results consider JEDEC sticks such as Crucial Pro. This approach can cause some performance drops, which are usually reduced by using X3D. There are general stability concerns, but I can't confirm that 95% of crashes occur with XMP/EXPO—they might happen without it. The official CPU spec is 5600, while JEDEC timings are slower than what most gaming RAM supports. These settings aren't very common because most games don’t need more than 64GB, and if you go for higher capacities, speed becomes less important. With the right setup—like dual 4TB drives you get around 5000 or more—performance can still be solid.

You shouldn't run into problems with EXPO at least when the budget is under 6000 and you have two sticks. QVL is rarely current; I haven't really paid much attention to it.

The QVL list probably wasn't refreshed.

I assume it will remain steady, regardless of the quality level.

It seems the kit you received had problems. After turning on EXPO, it became unresponsive for a few minutes before displaying a failed POST error and prompting F1. It appeared the changes were undone and it booted into Windows, but then stuck again after restarting—waiting over 30 minutes. Once you disabled EXPO, everything functioned properly, and a Memtest 1 pass confirmed stability.

The RAM not being in the QVL doesn't guarantee it won't function; it simply indicates it hasn't been certified or tested by the motherboard manufacturer. Regarding speed, you should be okay using two sticks at 6000MT/s. Just avoid receiving a four-stick package.

As mentioned earlier, it didn't function properly. However, I attempted the EXPO II mode instead of EXPO I and it appears to work now. The distinction between EXPO II and EXPO I:
