When I pushed my 9700K to 5.1GHz, everything worked smoothly until I played a game—then the overclock dropped and it started running at normal speeds again. What should I try to resolve this issue?

Adjust both turbo settings to their highest levels. It seems your CPU is limiting power, which restricts peak performance. Verify that your overclock applies across all cores. Aim for the 51 multiplier regardless of active cores.

XMP 1 is set, multicore boost disabled, max capability engaged. CPU core cache at full capacity ready via configuration dial. All cores synced, voltage manually adjusted. Begin with boost frequency and maximum Vcore—boost frequency follows from core count. If crashes spike voltage by 0.05V, cap at 1.35V. Avoid exceeding limits to prevent long-term damage. Any temperature above 80-82°C is unsafe. Keep stability as priority; if unstable, lower boost by 0.1GHz for steadier performance. Use Cinebench R23 for OC testing and Prime95 with minimal FFT for stress checks (minimum 30 minutes). Afterward, consider fine-tuning individual cores for optimal results.
