9600k OC question.
9600k OC question.
Hi there,
My 9600k has a base clock of 3.7GHz and a turbo up to 4.6GHz, though it actually limits itself to 4.3GHz across all cores. If I wanted to overclock, would I need to push the clock ratio past 43 for any effect, or could there be another Intel turbo setting to utilize for better performance?
I’m curious if there are other ways to boost turbo beyond just increasing the CPU ratio.
You've a 'k' chip. Designed to OC by the multi. You can use BLCK, and increase the bus clock, but it's not advisable, and adds en element of instability, that can make troublshooting an OC a pain. Here's a guide to OC: https://forums.
4.3 represents the main maximum turbo setting. A single or two cores would reach 4.6, but usually not all at once. If you increase from 1.2, attempt the 4.6 setting again. Adjust just one notch at a time until it starts up, then run Prime to check stability. The 4.6 all-core option is straightforward with your chip.
