8GB memory paired with 16GB RAM setup
Hello, I'm working with a Lenovo Legion Y540 15IRHPG0 that originally came with 8GB RAM from Samsung. With heavy usage—running multiple VMs, Chrome, kernel builds, etc.—I'm thinking about upgrading my RAM. I'm unsure whether to choose a 16GB or an 8GB stick. I've learned that using different RAM sizes can have downsides, such as losing dual-channel support. I've picked the following options for my upgrade:
XPG ADATA Flame DDR4 8GB : [link]
XPG Flame 16GB DDR4 : [link]
My main concerns are:
1. Will both 8GB and 16GB RAM work well together?
2. Is dual-channel really important, especially since my system already handles high usage even with 32GB?
3. Should I opt for two 8GB sticks to improve stability and speed?
This RAM is compatible with older systems because it's more affordable than the Kingston model you referenced.
