Hi everyone. I'm not as tech-savvy as some of you, but I'm definitely not a beginner. I've assembled my own system and have a basic grasp of it.
My concern is...
I'm currently using 8GB (2x4) dual channel RAM. I also have another 4GB stick available, though I haven't installed it yet because dual channel is supposed to be better (or at least I've heard that). I'm experiencing some stuttering or freezing during gameplay (SGW3&2). I'm pretty sure my graphics card setup might be the issue, so any advice on that would be greatly appreciated. Would adding a third 4GB stick and switching to a 12GB single channel configuration help or make things worse?

RIG:
>Asus Rog Maximus IX Hero DDR4 4000+ O.C Z270 RGB MOBO w/ wifi&bluetooth.
>Intel Core I3 6100 3.7GHz CPU. STOCK COOLING but running 6 or 7 120mm fans plus a couple other exhaust fans lol
>8 gb's (2x4) Patriot Elite Ninja 3000mhz Ram with heatsinks and my own 12.5mm 12v fan (just a DIY cooling solution) (also has an optional 4gb Corsair Vengeance stick).
>EVGA GeForce GTX 680SC 256bit GDDR5 2gb (?) signature+ series GPU with backplate Nvidia chipset.. OR trying the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050ti 128Bit PCIe 4.0 DDR5 GPU (what should I choose? The 680 looks better. The 1050 doesn't need external power).
>EVGA 600W PSU. Non-modular
>VIVO V08 4 120mm blue led fan glass front & side panel case (great cable management)
>Seagate 1TB HDD
>Asus VK 266 27" LCD MONITOR
>>A key point is that I bought the GTX 680 used and had to bake it in the oven when it came with red lines running across the screen (375°F for 8 minutes).
>>Anyone has advice on hardware, software, or setup? Your help would be greatly appreciated. I really want everything possible.
Thanks.

Based on your motherboard specifications, it could operate in flex mode, using dual channel for the initial 8GB and single channel for the remaining 4GB. In this setup, adding more than 8GB of RAM wouldn't have any drawbacks, but would only be beneficial if you need more than that amount.

It seems to lack records. The most effective approach would be to experiment with it yourself.

And what outcomes should you be checking? Are you checking if your gaming screen quality gets better? Or are there particular details you should search for online? No worries, I understand—just need guidance on how to learn this.

When using CPU-Z and checking the memory section, dual channel mode appears correctly. The DC mode should also indicate asymmetric operation.
