8700k 5ghz 1,4v not stable?
i have delidded 8700k, aorus 7 mobo. scythe ninja 3 air cooler with two noctua fans. the temps are quite good. max 70c on full load 5ghz 1.40v. but it keeps crashing, i have tried all guides on google but cant seem to get it stable. what i do wrong? is my chip that bad?
Not every CPU will hit 5 GHz easily...
There might be other settings in the BIOS you can tweak to achieve 5 GHz....; I'd find a detailed review on your specific mainboard that includes overclocking, often there will be detailed notes on what all settings they used to achieve a given OC...
Thank you, I'll attempt to lower it first and then proceed. I'll share my results tomorrow this time.
I have the same configuration as you, except the cooler is an AIO on my machine. My new rig uses an 8700K without delid, with a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 and 360mm AIO. Your temperatures are excellent at 5GHz, the delid performed well but your vcore remains high at 1.4v. Is this a fixed vcore or have you experimented with adaptive/ofset?
i'm just starting out with overclocking and tried setting the vcore manually without using avx offset. it seems like you might be having an issue with vdroop. could you share your current settings for 4,9ghz?
I’m just starting out with overclocking and tried manually adjusting the vcore without using the avx offset. I suspect I have an issue with the vdroop. Could you share your current settings for a 4.9GHz and 9GHz? My base configuration is lower, and there’s a helpful thread on Overclock.net about this motherboard and CPU combination: http://www.overclock.net/forum/6-intel-m...tings.html. It would be useful to check that first, as the information there should provide a lot of guidance for achieving a stable overclock for this CPU and board.
I used version 4.9 with normal core, 0.020dvid, and it's been stable so far. The CPU voltage fluctuates between 1.248-1.260v. Maximum temperature stays at 68°C. Thank you for your assistance! I plan to try 5GHz later today and will share my thoughts tomorrow.
Sorry, I'm a bit delayed in posting the news. I got a stable 4.9 with 0.02 offset, but how can I reach 5GHz? I change the core ratio, but adjusting the voltage with offset is tricky—just setting it to 0.04 doesn't work because it's unstable with that value.
