8700k 4.7ghz OC, temps trop élevés?
Hi everyone
I've observed that my CPU temperatures are rising significantly during gaming sessions, reaching 80°C even when using only 60% CPU load in Division 2. To try and manage this, I adjusted the VCore setting in hopes of lowering the heat (though I'm uncertain if this will stabilize things).
Current configuration:
i7 8700k @ 4.7Ghz all cores, 1.216VCore. In P95 with AVX disabled, I reached 88.5°C (24°C ambient).
Hyper 212 Evo with its original thermal paste. The paste was applied in 2013 and the last time it was re-applied was in 2018 when I installed the 8700k.
ASRock Z370M Pro4
Coolermaster HAF XM Case, case fans were running at nearly full speed during these temperatures.
I think a temperature of 88.5°C at 4.7Ghz with that core voltage is excessively high, but I'm unsure what's causing it. Perhaps a fresh application of thermal paste would help, even though it's been two years since the last one.
Thanks.
Consider purchasing a superior cooler or reducing the overclock and voltage settings.
Out of curiosity, how much lower will my temperatures be if I switch to something like a Noctua NH-D15? Someone claimed only a 7-8 deg C drop, which seems minimal.
