Remember to read the instructions carefully. Once you install Windows 7 Pro, you can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro by using the control panel. This process is new to me, so I can't walk you through it step by step, but you're welcome to try it yourself.

I misunderstood the earlier versions of Windows 7, especially the basic ones—those first versions didn’t let you modify your wallpaper.

You're right, it's only offered in 32-bit with a 2GB RAM limit. I appreciate the simplification of licensing in Windows 8.1.

Absolutely, the main use case for Pro comes into play when you're operating within a specific domain or managing virtual machines on Hyper-V.

I have Windows 7 Pro and with Windows 10 coming up soon, I don’t want to invest in something that won’t be useful in a short time.

I possess the required files to set up Windows 7 Pro on a USB drive roughly two feet away. The main challenge is handling the over 75GB of programs—especially if I leave the installers on USBs larger than 100GB. For downloading, you’ll need something lightweight and portable, as your PC isn’t big enough and your phone lacks sufficient space.
