For an extra 80, I’d prefer a 3700x over a better motherboard—though that’s just my take. I guess the Tomahawk Max can manage it too.
You don't see much benefit from moving from a B450 to an X570 using only a 3600. I usually think upgrades aren't worth it since you often lose money and it's smarter to invest now in something better. In your case, look for a better deal on a 3700x with the right board instead. Otherwise, stick with the B450 + 3600.
I’d choose the offer if the motherboard suits you. It really makes a difference having an MSI board, which is why it’s easier for me. The AM4 support continues through the end of next year, so there’s room for another generation soon.
B450 and X570 both use AM4 form factors and will accommodate new chips through the end of next year. They both offer overclocking potential, with any edge for the Gigabyte board being around two percent. The 4 + 2 phase VRM on the Tomahawk appears less effective compared to the 12 + 2 phase VRM on the Aorus board, though the difference is minimal unless you're pushing a 3900x or 3950x model.
