I recently purchased an extra 4GB of RAM, but Windows isn't utilizing all 8GB. Note: the MS config doesn't function—only 500MB is assigned to integrated graphics, which isn't the problem. Both RAM units match in specifications. Edited June 18, 2021 by jrey6969
Are you running Windows 10 32-bit? That restricts your memory to 4GB regardless of upgrades. Could the system not be installed correctly—check the RAM slots and connections?
Indicates 64-bit architecture shown in the image. However, APUs allocate memory via VRAM, typically limited to around 2GB, which can produce a comparable impact.

I think this situation is likely what @jrey6969 is experiencing. It seems you're using the integrated GPU, which would require about 2GB (maximum) of RAM to function as virtual memory. That means roughly 6GB remains. However, Windows typically reserves 10-25% for itself, leaving you with only 4-3GB of usable RAM. Would it help if you shared a screenshot of your Task Manager? Clicking the "Memory" tab will display which programs are consuming the most RAM.
