In short, you can likely get by without the extra connector. The 7700X supports two 8-pin EPS slots, so your current PSU should work fine as long as it meets the power requirements. Just confirm your PSU’s wattage and form factor match your system. Regarding the GPU, switching to an RTX 3070 Ti shouldn’t cause any problems, though ensure your motherboard supports it. No need to overclock the CPU. Let me know if you need more details!

It will function perfectly without the extra connector. The second EPS port is unlikely to be present on that board—an 8-pin cable easily supports 400W. Even the 7950X would find it tough to handle more than 200W under full load because cooling becomes a challenge beyond that threshold. If you have two 8-pin cables available and it makes sense, go ahead and connect both; it won’t cause any issues, but keeping only one is perfectly fine if you don’t need the second one.

The EPS connector works well with just one type of plug.

The choice of connector doesn't affect performance; both work identically.

For your specific board, the manual will clearly state this. If you lack the manual, look it up online for your board, visit the manufacturer’s site, and download the PDF from their support page.
