If its a buggy sensor shouldnt it produce the data more than once? Also the performance change was visable, on screen, before and after too. I checked the hwmonitor temps rumning in the back because I was benchmarking and started to lagg. i closed the fancontroller i forgot about. Back to the test. Closed the hw monitor reopen to see if max temps change. after I closed the fan controller it was fine. I will make a few more tests though but wont try to remake the same temps, too worried to try. I ll report back when im done

Performed cinebench with a score matching a 5700x Running hwinfo64. After heating to 90°C several times, the temperature stabilized around 95°C by about 2 minutes. Tests were halted at that point. Planning to repaste the file if anyone has suggestions.

I understand this might seem odd, but haven't you kept the plastic wrap on the block?

Attempt to configure 90W eco setting in Bois. Believe it or not, your CPU might be constantly pushing for maximum output, similar to how the Ryzen 7000X maintains high temperatures around 90-95°C while delivering peak performance.

I reattached the CPU cooler and the outcome stayed the same. I plan to try the approach you suggested earlier, this time after reattaching it. The Cinebench test ran for 1 minute and the results were below 5700x based on multicore points. hminfo64 still reported temperatures between 90-92°C. I was hoping to locate that plastic component on the cooler, but we’ll need to investigate further. If performance is already affected, putting it in eco mode probably won’t help much, though we’ll find out. I’m really worried. Should I purchase another 7700x and a motherboard just to be sure? I’ve checked the CPU and socket, and there doesn’t seem to be any obvious damage.

Run at maximum capacity consistently, increasing fan speed as required. Maintain continuous coolant flow to prevent overheating.

Thanks, I’ll give it another shot. When I reworked it, I double-checked the paste across the entire CPU after testing it. It kept breaking until I couldn’t fix it anymore.

Latest results from cinebench indicate 1150 points on a multicore setup, reaching up to 94°C for short periods. Adjusting the screws further didn’t improve performance.
