7700K / 1060 6gb OC issues
Hello!
I'm facing a challenge with my i7-7700K and a cooler that isn't great. The Be Quiet! Pure Rock Slim seems to handle it well, but it gets extremely hot even at full speed. In stress tests, I consistently hit around 75°C. Enabling XMP helps a bit, pushing the numbers up to 85-90 after a short time.
I'm wondering if I should upgrade my cooling system and, if so, what would be the best choice for someone new? Or do you have any recommendations for a cooler that can handle this processor?
Regarding my GPU, I’m struggling to push it beyond 150 cores and 300MHz memory. While others manage 500 or even 600 MHz, mine only reaches stable speeds around 300MHz. My card is the Asus 1060 with 6GB RAM, which is overclocked by default, but some others have factory-optimized cards that still hit those higher numbers. I usually push power and temperature limits in Afterburner, gradually tweaking the core clock until it becomes unstable—usually around 150.
Could you help me figure out if there’s something I’m doing wrong or if it’s just the card’s limitations?
Thanks ahead!

You should consider a more suitable CPU cooler for overclocking the 7700K, do you have a budget in mind? What type of case are you using to house your components?
Hi Ryan, thanks for the answer.
Yeah I got the budget for a cooler, but I'd prefer to stay under that $100 mark if possible.
I'm housing it inside a Vision OC-Series case, which is not internationally known, but here is a picture:

Says on the webpage that max height for a CPU cooler is 17,5cm.
