I prefer 720p at 144Hz. You can still remain farther from the screen.

720p 144Hz, anything lower than 60Hz is pain for your eyes, refresh rate =/= framerate. 30FPS on a 60Hz display = good. 30FPS on a 30Hz display = bad. Set your monitor at 30Hz then come back to me .

Higher rates like 120 or 144 seem to maintain stability at their respective refresh frequencies. If your rate varies, tearing will appear whenever it deviates from the expected match. You might notice some issues around 31 FPS on a 60 Hz screen.
