6800k overclocking help!
For anyone with this chip, how do you achieve a reliable overclock while keeping the RAM at 3000mhz? Initially, the PC specialist needed an extra day or two and could not get it to run at 3000. I accessed the BIOS and applied an XMP profile 2, which set the base clock to 125. This allowed a stable overclock of 3000 on the RAM with a CPU turbo boost of 3875 and a multiplier of 31. Trying to push it further to 32 didn’t work as an overclock.
For Broadwell E on x99, the recommended base clock for the RAM is 125. To achieve this, you’d need to adjust the Vcore—checking if there are any missing parameters. When left in auto mode, the Vcore was reported as 1.5, which seems unusually high compared to typical values around 4.2 or 4.2 at 1.22 and 1.35. Some users have suggested changing the cache settings to 32, assuming a CPU multiplier of 32 with a minimum left at 25.
I’ve also experimented by manually setting bclk to 100 and multiplier to 40, aiming for a higher clock with the RAM running at 3000mhz, but that approach failed, causing a noticeable drop in timing accuracy by about 4-5% when CPR restarts the PC and sets RAM to 2666mhz at a 4ghz clock.
Should I input the values directly from the XMP profile, increasing the multiplier to 32 or more, keeping bclk at 125 and 3000mhz RAM? Or should I adjust the Vcore higher to improve stability? It’s clear my cooling performance under load has been below 50% even with post enabled.

Adjust the CPU speed manually, then modify the voltage to around 1.2v. Next, return to setting the RAM and ensure you save your changes.
