I watered my system with a custom loop and boosted the 6700k processor. It now runs at 4.8Ghz, idling between 22-25°C. During stress tests it spikes to 100°C and all fans pump max. Benchmarks let it pass without overheating. I monitor temps with an HW monitor and LED readout. Should I reduce the overclock until stress temps drop, or is it fine to keep running as is since benchmarks stay under mid 70s? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

which prime95 release are you targeting? the latest ones shouldn't work well with skylake chips. consider using an older version or run a stress test with realbench and aida64. try again to verify if temperatures are excessive, since 100°C is definitely too high.

forgot about OCCT, can use that too, just not the newer version of prime95, it will wreck that poor chip
i think version 26 or something was okay, but im not 100% confidently sure about that, i just stopped using it all together going to skylake
Run realbench and aida64 seperately for like 15min each, then run then together at the same time to see how far your temps get pushed
(reason i suggest running them together is i saw my temps actually be getting higher like that, so a nice alternative than a chip destroying prime95 test
😉

Gnuffi shared his experience, mentioning he forgot about OCCT and tried using it instead. He noted that version 26 seemed fine but wasn't completely sure. He stopped using the older version after switching to Skylake. He recommends running Realbench and AIDA64 separately for about 15 minutes each, then combining them to observe temperature performance. He shared that this approach worked better than using a chip that damaged Prime95 tests on Skylake. He also mentioned that Prime95 at 4.8 caused a significant temperature spike, which was concerning during the testing process. Thank you for the insights and suggestions!

no worries at all, just keep running Realbench and Aida64 for a longer time.
a solid first attempt to understand your temperatures should happen around the 15-30 minute mark, though that’s mainly for checking temperature readings.
to truly assess system stability on your clock, you should run them for at least a few hours—running Aida64 overnight is a good strategy if the system remains active when you wake up.
if you want to be extra sure, you can push it to 24 hours of continuous stress testing.

Regardless of what others say, this product is still considered garbage with unnecessary stress tests. It has damaged many Haswell and Haswell-E chips and could harm Skylake as well. Aida64 Extreme is a much better option.
