6700k 1.315v safe?
6700k 1.315v safe?
So I have this configuration ready now.
Specifications
I’ll add everything else if necessary
i7 - 6700k @ 4.5Ghz - Cooler Master Seidon 120V v2 Water cooler.
Asus Pro Gamer/Gaming - Z170
8gb Crucial 2400Mhz Ram
Evga 850w Semi modular GQ (Was all out of the G2 at the time of purchase)
My goal is to maintain a consistent overclock around 4.5Ghz or slightly higher, without quickly wearing out the chips.
Here’s the issue
My 6700k came with a default voltage of 1.296 (roughly)
I’ve boosted it to 4.5Ghz on a manual voltage of: 1.315v
That’s not bad at all – I don’t think so. Temperatures are about 65°C during full FPU and CPU stress tests.
I’ve run this in AIDA64 for 45 minutes and it seems stable so far.
I’m looking for a way to stop it from staying stuck at 1.315v and to lower the voltage when the CPU isn’t using it much.
Is there a method to set a maximum voltage? That would let me adjust it down when needed?
I think you're wondering if it's safe to run in this way. I'm curious about whether lowering the voltage further would be beneficial. (Otherwise, what's the purpose?)
People often recommend using a static manual voltage because it might help prevent CPU wear.
