Hello, I recently assembled my PC with a 5900X processor. During a Cinebench R23 multicore test, all cores reached up to 4.12GHz. I’m curious if this is typical for this GHz range. I noticed some creators achieve around 4.24GHz with just 240AIO even at high temperatures (my temps sit between 71-72°C). In games, I rarely hit 4.9GHz. Many YouTube clips show players reaching 4.9GHz for short bursts on titles like League of Legends or Battlefield 5, while I consistently get about 4.5GHz on BF5, which is the highest clock I’ve installed. Temperatures stay around 65-70°C during play. My setup includes a 5900X, 3600MHz CL14, 3080TI graphics, and an MSI B550 unitfy-X with a 360mm AIO (Lian Li Galahad 360mm). I left my PBO on AUTO without changing fan speeds, only adjusting BIOS settings. I’m puzzled about why my core clock feels lower than some benchmarks despite cooler temps and solid temps. Have you all experienced similar results with 5900X on R23? Or should I consider returning the unit for a replacement?

Looks typical for a 5900x. Those getting 4.9-5.0 ghz are mostly using golden chips. Most clocks fall between 4.4-4.7 as shown on the box. Some are also using 700$ motherboards which helps as well.

Are you using the latest BIOS version for that motherboard? The chipset now focuses more on speed than the CPU itself, and updating your BIOS can boost performance and increase GHz. However, you're still within 100-200MHz of the listed speed—unless it's a different motherboard, you might have missed out on the upgrade. Also, enabling PBO will improve those numbers significantly, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

I checked the latest bio and it didn’t match what I expected. It seems my performance is actually quite strong, with 4.125ghz all-core and 71°C max. Regarding the Cinebench R23, my results are within normal ranges for my setup.

No need for a golden chip between 4.9-5.0, as the frequency stays under 100MHz. Just enable PBO for those clocks, and everything seems okay with the temperatures.

Looking for some tips! I plan to enable the PBO and check if I can surpass 4.3 on all cores using Cinebench R23. It's odd because the test videos I saw were run with the stock setting, which doesn't have PBO enabled.

Did you ensure the BIOS was updated and all relevant drivers were installed for your motherboard? Also, did you enable XMP or tune the memory to match the advertised specifications? I recall facing similar problems with my 5800X before updating, often struggling to reach optimal performance in many applications.
