Hi, I see you're looking for advice on upgrading your GPU. With 3800x CPU and mostly gaming at QHD plus some 3D rendering, you're considering 5900x or 5800x3D. However, many reviews show benchmarks at 1080p, so you might not need that high resolution. I recommend checking trusted reviews for QHD to see which upgrade offers the best value for your needs. Let me know if you want more details!

CPU assessments usually rely on reduced image quality to highlight the CPU bottleneck effect. Typically, increasing resolution raises the demand on the graphics card, while the CPU's impact diminishes as long as it maintains sufficient power to feed the GPU.

Upgrading the CPU isn't necessary at QHD. If rendering is slow, the extra cores in the 5900X will provide better performance.

Based on what I see in the reviews, outside gaming doesn't really gain much from extra cache. I believe adding more cores would be the most effective way to improve rendering.

5900X gets my approval. You can push it to higher speeds compared to the 5800X3D.

It's true that the 1080 reviews would slow things down before UHD, so keep it where you are right now.

It offers around 20% more frames in gaming versus your 3800x, while 5800X3d provides a slight boost of about 10%. The 5900x delivers roughly 80% better overall core performance, making it the top choice.

I don't see the 5800x3D available. Would you prefer a 5900x or keep using 3800x?
