Hello, your setup sounds a bit unusual with those high temperatures. The ambient room temperature is 22°C, and your idle temps are 50°C and 85°C during Chrome startup. After launching a game, it reaches 90-95°C. You updated the BIOS and used the AMD XMP profile, but you mentioned using an unopened NT-H1 thermal paste from three years ago. It’s possible the old paste is affecting heat dissipation. Check if the fan spins freely and see if the paste has degraded over time.

Your 3080 Ti runs smoothly at 75°C with the CPU at 90°C.

Typically, Noctua claims an unopened tube lasts about three years... However, I’ve used paste (AS5 instead of Noctua) that was several years old and worked well. As long as the paste isn’t watery or oily and looks uniform when removed, it should be okay. You might want to reinstall the cooler since a DRP4 setup seems suitable for a 5800X3D.

Already reseated it once but i'm going to try one more time. The thermal paste looks completely normal so i think it should be fine.

The outdated coolers aren't designed for today's CPUs. I'd suggest swapping them for a PA/PS120 or an FC140.

Completely incorrect, using the same cooler on a 5900x doesn't achieve those temperatures. How do you actually adjust a cooler? Your comments are misleading and waste the user's time.

Your 5900X is likely using default settings, similar to stock configurations. It cools quite well, much like an X3D does. Note: And I own older high-end heatsinks that perform just as well, if not better than D15, against AMD 7nm.

It's understandable if x3d is simple to cool, but a new cooler might still be necessary depending on usage intensity or environmental conditions.
