Currently, you can purchase a 3900x at a price similar to what the 5800x fetches when it becomes available again. Are you overlooking something, or would the 3900x actually offer a better value for regular users?
5800X offers improved boost clocks, stable FLCK and memory timings, quicker single-thread performance, enhanced efficiency, superior multi-thread speed, better branch prediction, and overall faster than previous generations. The main advantage of choosing the 3900X is increased core count for reduced cost, plus it remains an extremely fast processor.
The issue is we're unsure if future programs and games will manage more cores efficiently compared to fewer but stronger ones. Currently, gaming performance is around 5800x versus 3900x. I share your concern about whether to wait for the higher performance or settle for the current setup.
