Hello, I'm considering switching from your current setup to a 5700X. Are you still interested in the 5700X for 2024, or would it be better to wait for more advanced options like AM5? Your main tasks involve gaming—primarily CS2 and shooters—as well as some occasional UE5 development. Let me know if you'd like advice on other components to upgrade first.

CPU remains strong today, possibly postponing a complete upgrade for several years. That’s why I also bought a 5700X3D this morning to swap in for the 3700X. I’ll just have to wait a week for it...

Right now a 5700x at 170 seems reasonable, while the 5700x3d is priced higher at 250. Would it be worth upgrading to the 3d version despite the cost increase? Also, keep in mind you might need to replace your power supply again.

The 5700X3D typically offers a 15-20% boost in gaming performance when averaged across many titles on a CPU-limited setup. From a direct comparison, it’s more cost-effective at around $170 compared to $250, delivering 80-85% of the speed for about 68% of the price. Regarding power supply, it’s quite excessive for this configuration with a 4060, as all components draw significant power.

Theres a pretty good deal for a 16x2 RAM Kit here.. its currently on sale for 50. Should I just get that and the 5700x instead of the 5700x3d?

Feeling uncertain about choosing between the 5700X3D and a 5700X versus a 16x2 RAM Kit. Appreciate the advice!

Consider upgrading with a 5700X + 16×2 RAM package. If your current setup works fine, skip it. For the 5700X, push it to overclock to reach 4.6GHz across all cores.

This price gap is noticeable from your location. For me, the 5700x costs $227 versus $279 for the 5700x3d—just over $50 apart. That’s why I went with the 5700x3d. If the 5700x is indeed significantly cheaper, it might be a good investment. I’ve checked some benchmarks and the difference isn’t huge enough to justify spending nearly $100 more. Regarding the RAM upgrade, I also upgraded from 16GB to 32GB recently. In games like Hogwarts Legacy, extra RAM can really improve performance by reducing microstutters.
