AMD 5600x costs have fallen so much that a 5600+B550 setup is only slightly pricier than the 12400F + H610 bundle (same VRM and I/O specs, plus at least two M.2 slots). The AMD option is marginally pricier, though the 5600x performs better in games, with prices differing by just a few dollars or euros. See the links for more details.
Thanks to the recent update, we now understand that the 12400/F model doesn’t gain much speed when power limits are turned off, compared to the stock 65W board which is only 8% slower than the 12600K non-OC version. XMP support reaches up to 3200MHz, which is sufficient for a well-balanced setup. Despite fewer features on the other H610 models, the H610M-A with its D4 chip offers two M.2 slots, 2xUSB 3.1 (10GB/s), and superior VRM performance compared to pricier boards. The comparison highlights minimal I/O differences between H610 and B550s in this list, with only one B550 matching the H610 Prime board. Choosing between these options means weighing internal USB-C placement, external USB-C at the rear, or faster USB-A—each setup suits different preferences and system needs.
