Hello, I aim to upgrade my motherboard and CPU (i5 8400) to a 10700K (Tomahawk Z490 or gaming X) but have an EVGA G3 550W (https://latam.evga.com/products/product....G3-0550-Y1). According to gamersNexus, the i7 10700K uses 267.6W on a 12V rail at full load, while the MSI 1070TITANIUM draws 180W at stock. I thought it would fit within the 500W limit. However, on MSI forums someone mentioned needing an extra 4-pin connector for the CPU (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threa...ns.346681/). Can you confirm if the 550W would be sufficient with the i7 10700K overclocked at 5GHz paired with a 1070TI?
550w works well for this project most of the time. The 8-pin EPS can supply about 384w, which is sufficient for an overclocked 10700k.
I’d receive 10600k instead of the lower 10700k. That would save me a lot of money, like extra RAM, more storage, an SSD, or just putting the savings toward the next upgrade. With this board you could get an i5 11600k or i7 11700k when they’re released next year.
In my country the i5 10600K isn't available. How about the 550W question—what do you think?
