50 fps???
50 fps???
When playing CS:GO, I usually see around 200-250fps on average, but sometimes it drops to a maximum of 50 fps for up to 10 seconds and then returns to normal. I’m wondering if there’s an issue with my PC that might cause it to think I’ll quit the game, which could also happen in other games I play. Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks.
What are your specifications?
Have you recently updated your drivers?
Did you adjust the game settings?
Have you attempted to reinstall the games?
Weird, this does happen to me. But considering i consider 50fps playable ive never noticed it that badly. Did it recently start doing this or has it always done it? Also if you could please attach a picture of the usage of the CPU when playing, trying to rule out a bottleneck
When capturing the screenshot in fullscreen mode, the CPU and GPU metrics might not accurately reflect real usage because the game isn't being rendered in the background. Even for CSGO, the CPU load appears relatively low. If you're sure the game is running in fullscreen, consider switching to a windowed or borderless windowed setting and take another screenshot. I’d also note that your main worry should probably be RAM—16GB would be a good starting point for gaming and multitasking today.
Observe, with windowed and borderless windowed settings, the game caps itself at 60 frames so it doesn’t reveal the full scope of that problem. I usually play at 120-180fps and believe it might be a software issue, as it occurs not just in CS:GO but also in other titles, though not as intensely. It resets when I return to the game even though I’ve been tabing there before. If you’re still interested, here’s the info – it has less effect on gameplay when I only play "X" with borderless windowed.
EDIT: Also, I want to mention that I don’t have an 80+ PSU because it’s a prebuilt system.
