I bought five USB drives in exFAT format. I needed them in NTFS for installing a Windows 11 installation media that was 5.7GB. After formatting one, the drive vanished from "This PC" and didn’t show up in CMD or Disk Management. I used several partitioning tools but none displayed the drive. I downloaded both MiniTool Partition Wizard and EaseUS Partition Master, but they also failed to appear. I recorded a video on my last attempt explaining everything. Could you help me figure this out? Did I make a mistake? Are these drives damaged? Should I consider buying from a trusted manufacturer like Samsung next time?

Hey! Here’s the screenshot you mentioned. The drive from the video still is connected, but the flash drives aren’t showing up—even when they’re unplugged or plugged back in.

5 x 128GB USB flash drives for $26? Seems suspicious. We don’t know the actual storage capacity or if there’s real flash memory inside. It probably got formatted in exFAT to show 128GB. Some reviews look odd and raise red flags. The seller used a typical bait-and-switch tactic. Do you like your content? Also, do you buy their coffee? Wooden packaging? Research? Jon Levi? One more review?

It occurred to me recently and helped me figure it out. We’ll need more varied perspectives. I purchased a 256 USB 2.0 on Ali Express—they’re affordable. I remember having one of those before, and it happened again with the same model.
