It really varies. For a 5600X, the motherboard and cooler stay affordable under $100, but with an 10700K it becomes significantly more expensive.

I faced the same issue and chose the 5600x. It offers smoother single-threaded speed, reduced power consumption, and PCIe Gen.4 compatibility. The loss of two cores isn’t significant for gaming.

There are two options: one with 8 cores/16 threads and another with 6 cores/12 threads. The choice also depends on the motherboard. If you have a Z490 board and an X570 board that match in features but the Z490 costs $20 more, you should weigh the extra 4 threads against saving $20. Motherboard reviews and appearance matter if you have time to research and both models are still available. Also, the 10700K usually lacks a cooler, so if you prefer avoiding a cooler by using the stock model, pick the 5600X.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about getting a separate cooler. Since I don’t have a microcenter close by, and the motherboard matches what I need, that should work.
